PRIVACY POLICY
1. WHO WE ARE
Alabaster Armoury creates Christian art and devotional resources. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, shop with us, or join the Devotion Club, and how we look after it. Alabaster Armoury is run by Hannah Coekin and Aoife Harmer trading as Alabaster Armoury, of 1 Strangers Lane, Canterbury, CT1 3XJ. If you have any questions about this policy or your information, email us at info@alabasterarmoury.com.
2. WHAT WE COLLECT
We only collect what we need to serve you:
-
Your name, postal address, mobile number and email address — when you place an order or subscribe to the Devotion Club so we can deliver to you and keep you updated about your order or subscription.
-
Payment details — taken securely by our payment providers when you pay. We never see or store your full card details ourselves.
-
Your order and subscription history — so we can manage your account, answer queries and handle any replacements or refunds.
-
Your email address for our newsletter — only if you choose to opt in.
-
Basic website usage information (such as cookies and analytics) — collected through our website platform to keep the site working properly and understand how it is used. See section 7.
3. HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION, AND WHY WE ARE ALLOWED TO
Data protection law requires us to have a lawful reason for using your information. Ours are:
-
To fulfil your orders and run your Devotion Club subscription — processing payment, posting your packs, and contacting you about your order or subscription.
-
To keep records for tax and accounting.
-
To send our newsletter, if you have opted in. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email or by contacting us.
-
To respond to your enquiries and improve our website and products.
We do not use your information for automated decision-making or profiling, and we never sell your details to anyone.
4. WHO WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION WITH
We share your information only with the services that help us run the business, and only as far as needed:
-
Our website and payment platforms (Wix and its payment providers, Wix Payments, PayPal, Apple Pay) — to run the website, process orders and take payments securely.
-
Royal Mail — your name and address, to deliver your orders and Devotion Club packs.
-
Our newsletter service, Mailchimp — to send the newsletter to subscribers who have opted in.
-
Professional advisers or authorities — only where the law requires it (for example, HMRC records).
Some of these providers may store information on servers outside the UK. Where that happens, they are required to protect it to UK standards under approved safeguards.
5. HOW LONG WE KEEP IT
We keep your information only as long as we need it: order and subscription records are kept for 6 years to meet tax and accounting rules; newsletter details are kept until you unsubscribe; and enquiry correspondence is kept for 12 months after the matter is resolved. After that, information is securely deleted.
6. CHILDREN
Our products are designed to encourage girls and young women, but our website, shop and Devotion Club are operated for adults. Subscriptions and purchases must be made by someone aged 18 or over, and we only collect the account holder's (for example, a parent or guardian's) personal information — not the recipient's. Our newsletter is intended for adults. If you believe a child has provided us with their personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. COOKIES
Our website uses cookies — small files stored on your device — to keep the site working (for example, remembering your basket), and, with your consent, to understand how visitors use the site. You can manage cookie preferences through the banner on our website or your browser settings. Essential cookies cannot be switched off, as the site will not function without them.
8. YOUR RIGHTS
You have rights over your personal information. You can ask us for a copy of what we hold about you; ask us to correct anything inaccurate; ask us to delete your information (where we are not legally required to keep it); object to or restrict how we use it; ask for your information in a portable format; and withdraw consent at any time (for example, unsubscribing from the newsletter). To use any of these rights, email us at info@alabasterarmoury.com — we will respond within one month.
9. COMPLAINTS
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, please contact us first and we will do our best to put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
10. CHANGES TO THIS POLICY
If we change how we handle your information, we will update this policy and change the date at the top. Significant changes affecting Devotion Club subscribers will be notified by email.
